Arkema and Authentic Material work together to provide innovative, more sustainable materials for luxury goods and other markets

These new innovative composite materials are based on blends of recycled leather with Rilsan® PA11 or Pebax® thermoplastic elastomers, produced by Authentic Material and sold under the Qilin™ brand. These composite materials can be easily processed into products through 3D printing or conventional extrusion and molding processes, mainly targeting markets such as luxury goods, fashion accessories, consumer electronics, automotive interiors and sports equipment.

Rilsan® PA11 Product overview:
Produced from castor oil, Rilsan® PA11 resin is a high-performance polymer of 100% renewable origin. Rilsan® PA11 resin has been a trusted source of performance in highly demanding applications for 70 years. Since its beginning, it has been synonymous with performance and durability.

Arkema wants to work with its customers on each side of the supply chain – those who want to recycle their polymers, and those who wish to purchase partially recycled grades. Our focus is on polyamide 11 and polyamide 12 resins, PEBA elastomers, and PVDF fluoropolymers. ARKEMA Kynar

Kynar PVDF polymers are considered exceptionally easy fluoropolymers to process - requiring little in the way of specialized equipment. There is a very wide "processing window" (a wide difference between the melting temperature and the degradation temperature).
