Syensqo to cut jobs in France, the United States, Belgium and Italy

On November 5, Syensqo announced that it was adjusting its organizational structure to "better meet the needs of customers" and "focus on projects that can accelerate growth." The company plans to reduce about 300 to 350 jobs worldwide, "mainly in France, the United States, Belgium and Italy." In Belgium, 36 positions are affected.

Syensqo was spun off from Solvay Group at the end of last year. Its business covers: specialty polymers, composite materials, consumer and industrial specialty chemicals, fragrances and functional chemicals, technical solutions, oil and gas, and four growth platforms: batteries, green hydrogen, thermoplastic composites, renewable materials and biotechnology.

"Our primary goal is to position Syensqo for success," Syensqo CEO Ilham Kadri said in a statement. "We do not take any decisions that may affect our employees lightly, and the company will treat those who may be affected with the utmost respect, dignity and empathy."

Meanwhile, Syensqo plans to separate from Solvay's business support systems by the end of 2025, and highlighted that these efforts will create hundreds of new jobs in information technology, system infrastructure and business intelligence.
