Syensqo PAEK AvaSpire AV-651 GF30 is a 30% carbon fiber reinforced version of AvaSpire® AV-651. This formulation offers some advantages relative to 30% carbon fiber reinforced PEEK which include better dimensional stability and warp resistance during injection molding. The AV-651 CF30 grade offers the highest strength, stiffness, and fatigue resistance of any AV-651-based grade. Furthermore, this resin generally retains most of the desirable ultra-performance attributes of carbon fiber reinforced PEEK. Those attributes include chemical resistance, fatigue resistance, and long term thermal oxidative stability.

The excellent balance of properties of AV-651 CF30 makes this grade well suited for a broad range of applications across a number of industries including healthcare, transportation, electronics, oil and gas, and chemical processing.

This resin can be easily melt processed by injection molding using standard equipment. The melt processing behavior of AV-651 CF30 is overall very similar to that of 30% CF reinforced PEEK. While the resin can also be extruded, the lower melt flow AV-621 CF30 grade is considered more suited for extrusion applications while offering the same property profile as AV-651 CF30.is a 30% glass fiber reinforced polyaryletherketone (PAEK) that has been specifically formulated to provide higher mechanical strength and stiffness than unfilled AV-651 resin. This resin offers chemical resistance nearly equivalent to glass fiber-reinforced PEEK in most chemicals, with a lower heat deflection temperature.

These properties make it well suited for applications in healthcare, transportation, electronics, chemical processing and other industrial uses.

Customized High-Performance Polyketones

AvaSpire PAEK (polyaryletherketone) is a family of high-performance polyketones tailored to fill cost and performance gaps between PEEK and other high-performance polymers. For example, ductility and toughness can be significantly improved versus comparable grades of PEEK, delivering 20% higher tensile elongation at yield and double tensile elongation at break values.


Higher Stiffness than PEEK from 150°C to 200°C (302°F to 392°F)

AvaSpire AV-651 has a modulus twice that of unfilled PEEK at 180°C (356°F). AvaSpire AV-481 provides even higher modulus, close to 3X the modulus of unfilled PEEK (see chart below). AvaSpire Glass AV-600 and AV-400 series analogs likewise provide higher modulus compared to glass filled PEEK at the equivalent level of glass fiber loading.


Automotive Applications:

All three series of AvaSpire PAEK (400, 600 and 700) constitute good candidates for utilization in automotive under the hood and powertrain applications. All three series exhibit broad resistance to all automotive fluids, even at elevated temperatures up to 150°C (302°F). Applications in automotive include structural uses, where AV-750 GF40 has been successfully positioned in a number of applications. The wear resistant SL series of AV-700 products can be used in seal rings, bushings and bearings. Lastly, the 400 series is ideally suited for injection moldable thin walled structural parts with high strength to weight ratio and attractive economics.

Healthcare Applications:

The AvaSpire PAEK 600 series of products has demonstrated a track record of success in healthcare applications for over ten years now, notably in reusable sterilizable surgical instruments and devices. The combination of high mechanical performance, combined with a robust chemical resistance to a wide range of sterilization media have allowed these AvaSpire PAEK grades to become viable alternatives to stainless steel for many uses. Most AV-600 grades exhibit outstanding cleanliness and inertness attributes for patient safety and are ISO 10993 certified.


In addition to allowing highly functional and lightweight components in the operating room, they also offer improved comfort and ergonomics, not only for patients, but for health care providers as well.

Oil & Gas Applications:

AvaSpire PAEK finds uses in sealing components for compressors in the oil and gas industry. The higher mechanical and temperature performance relative to PEEK in the 150-190°C (302-374°F) temperature regime, coupled with high toughness and chemical resistance make the AvaSpire PAEK 600 series excellent candidates in a wide variety of compressor applications.

AvaSpire PAEK products are very valuable in aerospace applications as their performance features of fatigue and creep resistance, chemical resistance and hot-wet performance are an excellent match to the industry's key requirements for light and medium duty structural applications. The excellent flame, smoke and toxicity characteristics of most AvaSpire PAEK grades are also key to their success in aircraft/aerospace. Last but not least, the high flowability characteristics combined with high strength and stiffness allow for thin walled injection molded parts that combine structural integrity without compromising lightweighting constraints and considerations.
